Day of the Dead Nicho Shrine 18th October 2025
Saturday Art Workshop: Join me at the Saturday October 18th 10-4pm Trinity Centre Meole Brace Shrewsbury SY3 9HF, to create this unique Mexican-inspired handicraft project. Looking at traditional retablos and nichos as inspiration, you will create a small personal ‘nicho’ or niche that can be wall-mounted in your home to give a distinct Latino flavour and colour. The piece can be purely decorative or you can use it to store and present precious/meaningful objects, or it can even incorporate lighting to be used as a wall sconce. Additional personalisation in the form of hinged doors or building out at the front or side can also be incorporated. Using traditional processes including Papier-mâché, folk art painting and hojalateria, in this art class you will create a beautiful ornamental artefact that honours ancestors and celebrates the home. All materials and light refreshments provided. Please bring your own lunch.
