FAQs

  • I have a BA honours degree in Fine Art from the University of Newcastle upon Tyne. I also have a PGCE in secondary education art from Goldsmiths, University of London. This is one of the top training providers of art education in the country and they also produce iJADE the international Journal of Art & Design education - they have a contemporary, student centred approach to learning which I fully subscribe to. I have worked in education for the last 20 years in a wide range of contexts including state and private, national and international schools, with students of all ages including adults.

  • All materials for my weekly classes are included - you don’t need to bring anything apart from your own creativity!

  • In my weekly art-on-a-plate classes cover all drawing and painting media suitable for the shorter lessons of 2 hours. Pencil, pen, ink, soft pastels, oil pastels, collage, watercolours, gouache (opaque matt watercolour). On my day workshops, and longer courses we use acrylics.

  • Absolutely not - my classes are designed to be accessible to all - I can take you further on your creative journey no matter what point you start off from. I’ve had students who HATED art at school and their teacher told them not to bother but they have produced outstanding results that they are very proud of and have enjoyed making with me.
