Day of the Dead Nicho Shrine 24th October 2026
Saturday Art Workshop: Join me at the Saturday October 24th 10-4pm Trinity Centre Meole Brace Shrewsbury SY3 9HF, to create this unique Mexican-inspired handicraft project. Looking at traditional retablos and nichos as inspiration, you will create a small personal ‘nicho’ or niche that can be wall-mounted in your home to give a distinct Latino flavour and colour. The piece can be purely decorative or you can use it to store and present precious/meaningful objects, or it can even incorporate lighting to be used as a wall sconce. (Images for illustration purposes) Additional personalisation in the form of hinged doors or building out at the front or side can also be incorporated. Using traditional processes including Papier-mâché, folk art painting and hojalateria, in this art class you will create a beautiful ornamental artefact that honours ancestors and celebrates the home. All materials and light refreshments provided. Please bring your own lunch.
