Painting en PLein Air
We had a fantastic day on May 6th at National Trust Attingham park Plein air painting the spectacular view of the mansion house, giant cedars and deer park. The weather was glorious and we all really enjoyed the day painting outdoors in so much fresh air.
I started off by giving everyone a handmade small panoramic landscape booklet of various papers to create 5 ⚡️ lightning studies of their chosen view using a range of drawing media.Once the participants had ‘got their eye in’ becoming more familiar with the view they were observing - the scale and relationships between the different elements in the composition we moved onto a larger panoramic study in watercolours. I took my students through a step by step process to create washes and depth in their landscape, live painting alongside them to guide them along. It was an absolutely super day enjoying the outdoors and scenery, with great chats, delicious picnics, and they were all 100 % happy with their results. Many of my students emailed afterwards to thank me and say they slept so brilliantly after so much fresh air!
I have three more dates coming up at Attingham - June 20th, July 18th & September the 12th - all Friday afternoons - bring your own cake! book here
